Senior Fellow Dennis Broeders will give a keynote at the (ISC)² Secure Summit EMEA on 16 April 2019, taking place in The Hague.
(ISC)² Secure Summit EMEA is a conference for the cybersecurity professional community, organized by (ISC)², an international, nonprofit membership association for information security leaders. At this conference, Dennis Broeders' keynote will be on "Talking hack back to power. Active cyber defence as a way forward for corporate cyber security?".
ABSTRACT: Most states are unable and unwilling to protect companies against high level cybercrime and state (sponsored) attacks. Threat assessments indicate a high risk environment but the cyber cavalry is often not in sight. Some businesses are getting fed up and are taking matters into their own hand. Hack backs (retaliatory hacking) either by companies themselves or outsourced to specialised companies is happening, but is shrouded in secrecy. No numbers are known. In most countries the law is very clear: hack backs are not allowed.
